The mission of the American Public Works Association Utah Chapter, in an effort to maintain and develop safe and effective Public Works services in Utah, provides a vehicle for leadership advancement, professional progress, and industry enrichment, for future growth and development in Utah communities.
Goals & Strategy
- Provide a forum for education opportunities and information exchange
- Develop a Committee for Monthly Meeting Programs.
- Permit time for networking with membership. c. Encourage and vary Utah support and representation at national meetings.
- Ensure quality and diverse programs
- Provide Monthly Meetings on a continuous and consistent basis.
- Develop meetings with quality content, varied subject matter and sound structure to meet the membership’s needs.
- Pursue continuing education accreditation.
- Assure and enhance the image and professionalism of Public Works
- The Executive Committee (President and President-elect), acting as a liaison, spokesperson and representative by and between government agencies, media, and the public.
- Develop and implement monthly committee, task force, co-operatives updates.
- Promote media relations through press releases emphasizing APWA events and achievement, including developing and improving the APWA Utah Chapter website.
- Encourage dignitary support and involvement.
- Sponsor community services and action.
- Expand and build on relationships and partnerships through other groups and organizations involved in the industry
- Develop annual meetings in cooperation with partnering organizations.
- Facilitate and promote partnership through leadership involvement and invitations to events.
- Develop and promote industry tools, such as APWA specifications, tool box talks, best management practices.
- Recruit new and retain existing members
- Recruit new and retain existing members through membership involvement.
- Recognize and introduce individuals at meetings, who are unfamiliar with APWA or who promote APWA membership recruitment.
- Follow up with colleagues who have attended meetings.
- Develop a prospective member list including but not limited to City, County, State and Federal elected, appointed officials & employees, Public Works Directors, City Engineers, Operations, Parks & Rec, Fleet, Sanitation, First Responders, Public Relations, Civil Engineers, Inspectors, consultants, learning institutions, utilities, contractors, Department of Transportation, suppliers/vendors, and like organizations.
