Please join us for an APWA Lunch & Learn tour of the new Clearfield City Public Works Facility.
Clearfield city is home to over 33,000 residents and 1,200 businesses. The city’s Public Works Department maintains 110 miles of roadways, 120 miles of water lines, 80 miles of storm drains, 90 miles of sewer lines, 1,200 hydrants, and 1,300 streetlights. The “Municipal Operations Center (MOC)” is home to the Public Works Department, Parks and Open Space Division, and Facilities Maintenance Division, totaling around 50 employees.
In 2012, a needs assessment was conducted to help plan new facilities for the various divisions and departments within Clearfield City. That assessment helped pave the way for the current facilities.
Over the past eight years, the city has made considerable investments in the MOC by building a 24,000-square-foot administration and parks maintenance building in 2019. Most recently, the city completed a 32,000-square-foot operations building for public works and fleet maintenance, along with a 10,400-square-foot vehicle storage building. Combined, these improvements cost approximately $15.5 million.
